The OECS Men’s Health platform provides an innovative and easy way for men in the OECS to access sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information. It is designed to provide clear and accurate SRH information primarily to men aged 15 to 45, but more generally for all sexually active males irrespective of age. Clearly ‘men’ are not a homogeneous group with the same needs and concerns. Men are characterized not only by their sex, gender and age, but also by their ethnicity, sexuality, income, educational status, occupation, geographical location, their position within a family, access to information and their ability to put such information to use.
While men in the OECS, particularly younger men are more open about sex these days and are eager and curious to know more, they generally often do not have many avenues to turn to for credible information about SRH issues, as society still considers it taboo. This site will provide credible information and empower men to make good health decisions within a context of sexual diversity. OECS MEN’s HEALTH is managed by a team of medical, public health and sexual and reproductive health experts and community groups providing a web-based tool that is accessible through a PC, tablet or cell phone.
The Men’s Health Platform is about sharing clear and useful information and resources for men in the OECS, about sexual and reproductive health. It is a place where you, as a Caribbean man, and sexual health experts from the region can talk openly and honestly about matters relating to sex and sexuality. Each section of the platform contains informative articles that provide information and help us reflect and share on how the information impacts us as Caribbean men.
